PENAEUS VANNAMEI CULTURED

Fattening

From spawning until the animal is considered a shrimp takes 22 days. At this moment the prawn is moved to a fatting pool or sometimes to a pre breeding acclimatized pool for one to two weeks.

The Penaeus Vannamei usually gains about 1g per week (some weeks it can reach 1.8 and in others it only reaches about 0,5 g).

The fattening of the shrimp fundamentally depends on the salinity, temperature, and oxygenation of the water and also on the concentration of animals per m² and the protein content of the food.

During its life time each animal needs balanced compound feed between 80 – 180% of its body weight.
